General Maintenance
â–ª Avoid using glass cleaner or bathroom cleaner on the frames.
â–ª For routine cleaning, utilize a gentle cloth with warm, soapy water.
Ongoing maintenance
â–ª Utilize fine abrasive paper to rub down the frames, eliminating any grease.
â–ª Begin by cleaning the frames with a soft cloth and a solution of soapy water, allowing them to dry completely.
We suggest conducting an annual inspection of the frames, and if necessary, recoating them with stain, oil, or paint. If recoating is necessary:
â–ª Apply the paint or stain of your preference, following the manufacturer's specifications.
â–ª Wipe the frames with a damp cloth to remove any dust and debris, and once again, let them dry thoroughly.
Window Finishing and Protection
â–ª The primer or treatment serves as a base coat and does not function as a final waterproof coat.
â–ª To achieve the best finish, all windows—whether untreated, treated, or primed—require standard surface preparation before applying additional coats. Avoid using wire wool on an oak window.
â–ª Our custom-made windows are delivered to you either painted or primed. It is essential to seal them (i.e., apply a paint finish) as soon as possible after delivery to prevent water ingress. For optimal results, the seal must be applied to all surfaces, including all parts of the frame, casement, beading, and under all locks, hinges, and handles.
â–ª It is crucial to apply additional coats of a high-quality finish (following the manufacturer's guidelines) before the windows are installed and exposed to the elements. This coating must be maintained throughout the life of the windows to optimize their lifespan.
